COVID-19 Update | 3rd September 2021

Following the update from the Victorian Government earlier this week, all operations remain suspended until further notice.
We would like to provide the below update on our competitions and programs.
Domestic Competition
Current Season
Unfortunately the current Winter 2021 domestic season has been cancelled.
As only just over half of the games had been played over the season, there will be no finals award winners declared.
For those that purchased the Basketball Victoria License Fee for the Winter season, this will continue to work going into the following season and you will not be charged the license fee again if you have purchased it for this Winter season.
Next Season
The following domestic season will now commence from early October, or when advised we can proceed to do so. When the government confirms return dates we will be able to release the finalised season start dates and calendar. Team registrations will stay open in the meantime.
We encourage teams to register in preparation for the season still. Team registration is free and allows for a quicker return when we receive further news from the Victorian Government & Basketball Victoria.
The early bird rate for the player registration fees will be extended until the season commences.

Junior Representative Teams (VJBL)
Current Season
With the extension of the lockdown, the 2020/2021 VJBL season has been cancelled. The league consulted with all Associations with the majority agreeing to this direction should insufficient weeks available following the lockdown to return to the 2020/2021 season before the 2021/2022 season would need to commence.
Next Season
Tryouts will be rescheduled to approximately one week after our ability to return to indoor training. Dates and times will be confirmed as our return to basketball timeline becomes clearer. To register and find out more information, CLICK HERE.
Presentation Night
The Junior Presentation Night has been moved to an online format via zoom and will be held in age group sessions. This will be held on the same evening as planned (Sunday 12th September). Specific times and details will be sent directly to teams.
Senior Representative Teams (Big V)
Current Season
With the extension of the lockdown, the 2020/2021 Big V season has been cancelled. While our intent was to play finals and grand finals at the start of September, the extended lockdown has removed all available weeks remaining in the schedule to accommodate the return to the season.
Presentation Night
The Senior Presentation Night is postponed at this point. Further details will be released as we find out more information about easing of restrictions. Anyone who has purchased a ticket will receive a refund if the event is cancelled or they cannot attend the rescheduled date.
Southern Peninsula Tournament
We are still working towards holding the Southern Peninsula Tournament as planned on the 13th & 14th November at this point in time.
Basketball Victoria U12 Skills Day
This year’s Basketball Victoria Under-12 Skills Days and Under-12 Identification Camp will be postponed until further notice. Basketball Victoria will make every effort to reschedule these events to ensure continuity in High Performance programs at the start of our pathway.
Staffing
Staff are currently temporarily stood down. Please allow some extra time if you are awaiting a reply. Staff are still doing work behind the scenes to keep the Association running – we cannot be more appreciative of our team and their care for the Association.
